Final Fantasy VII : Advert Children

Note: Spoilers on FFVII:AC and Detective Conan's 9th movie

So, since there isn't any papers today, I've decided to make full use of my free day today.

To watch Final Fantasy VII: Advert Children, and Detective Conan's 9th movie, Strategy above the depths.

The conan movie was alright, the usual stuff, with Ran dreaming of Shinichi and stuff. Didn't expect too much from it. 8.5/10.

Now, FFVII:AC...

The storyline is pretty much the usual B movie type, with some dudes wanting to get Jenova's head to recreate Seperioth. However, while it is as straight forward as it sounds, the producers at Square-Enix still somehow managed to mess the story up, particularly in the early parts of the movie. With no proper introduction, as the background info came pretty much later, and all the "skipping scenes" (Watch it to understand better, it's just like he's in place A, then suddenly, he dreams of place B, then he's back at place A) made me confused as hell.

However, it settled down pretty much an hour into the show, as the main idea slowly creeped into my head, and the action finally began. The fight scenes were done very well, with the fast paced action that will make you hang on to your seat. While fans have been complaining that it is too "DBZ" like, with most of the fights in the air, I'm not complaining, as it was done rather well, and could have degraded to the Naruto style of fighting (1 punch, 129037869 words. Repeat), especially when Seppy appeared towards the end. The ending was one of the few parts where the producers seem to have got the storyline under control. It's almost like watching them wrestle with a wild bear for 85% of the show, then watch them finally tame the bear at the last 15%. Like most of the Final Fantasy games, the ending is one of those which tries to be tear jerking, but it just did not have the effect of FFIX/FFX's endings, which are very strong. But still, it's good enough as an ending.

The music, by Nobuo Uematsu, is sadly, pretty much remixed versions of the music found in the Final Fantasy VII game, considered a huge disappointment to many of us FF fans after the beauty of Final Fantasy VI's OST. When you hear the Piano version of the FFVII's battle theme when Tifa is fighting, you know something isn't going to be right, as Piano Battle Themes can never be, in general, as good as their normal counterparts. However, the voices of the actors more then make up for it, as they create the feelings of their atmosphere.

If there's one thing that shines, it must be the graphics. If you thought that Final Fantasy: Spirits Within's graphics is good, wait till you see this one. It is simply excellent. Tifa looks as beautiful as ever, and Cloud seriously looks cool, even though he's supposed to be the sadistic guy in this show. Every bit of emotion, sadness, anger, joy, can be seen clearly on the character's faces.

Overall, a rather decent movie, considering that it came from a game and is totally animated....9/10.

Screens, 5/10 will be on Tifa. XD

Great graphics...^_^.

Tifa...<3

Song of (whatever) changed to Thank You, by Go Shiina, from Tales of Legendia Original Soundtrack. Great OST, which seem to use quite a bit from the Piano side.
